Program Overview

When Sports Psychology is combined with our Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, our graduates are academically prepared to seek state licensure or certification as a professional mental health counselor and are able to add an additional client base to their repertoire of expertise.  In our current culture, coaches have come to realize that to be successful on the court or field, they must incorporate the psychological dimension that our program provides. Our Sports Psychology graduates are now working with athletic teams in Brazil, England, and in the United States.

Why Study Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Sports Psychology at TMU?

Getting a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Truett McConnell University allows you to be trained in the art of counseling from a biblical point of view.  Counseling and discussions about mental health are becoming more secular each year.  Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important for biblically-based Christian counselors to bring the light of Jesus into the field of mental health counseling.  All of the courses at TMU are grounded in scripture and our faculty will train you in how to counsel biblically.
