Biography

Dr. Black received her B.S. in Biological Science and Psychology from Florida State University with a minor in Chemistry, and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University. She has many years of lab experience: Dr. Black characterized a mouse model of ADHD during her time at Florida State University and investigated the function of a protein implicated in Parkinson’s disease risk during her time at Emory University. After completing her Ph.D., Dr. Black taught Biology and Anatomy and Physiology at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, GA for three years. She started teaching at Truett McConnell University in 2022 and developed the BS in Psychology with a Concentration in Neuroscience as well as the neuroscience minor. She became the Chair of the School of Psychology and Biblical Counseling in 2024 and is always seeking to improve the undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Psychology. She is married to Alex Black, the technology director at North Hall Church in Gainesville, and has two young daughters, Ruby and Violet.
