Biography
With over 25 years of teaching and research experience in higher education, Dr. Brenda M. Hochmuth’s academic journey began in the Amish country of Pennsylvania, where she earned a BS in Psychology/Biology from Kutztown University. Discerning a calling to understand God’s design for human development, she relocated to New York. During a transformative decade at Fordham University, she actively conducted research, balanced professional employment, and served as a graduate instructor while completing her MA and PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology-Neuropsychology, subsequently continuing her service there as an adjunct professor.
In 1997, Dr. Hochmuth moved to Georgia, launching an impactful teaching ministry that spans a diverse array of both secular and Christian-based higher education institutions. Grounded in a commitment to serve others, she has spent decades bridging academic theory with practical, faith-led community care. Her rich professional background includes roles as a child and educational consultant, a parenting and life coach, a mediator, and an event planner. Today, she dynamically integrates her holistic expertise as both an academician and a functional nutrition consultant, honoring the mind-body connection. A recent recipient of the Vulcan Materials Co. Teaching Excellence Award, she remains deeply dedicated to mentoring and discipling students, guiding the next generation of mental health professionals to combine professional excellence with a compassionate, Christ-centered worldview.
Outside the classroom, she lives an abundant and blessed life with her husband, Scott. They share a passion to travel, hike, and kayak. She also deeply cherishes her roles as a mom, and as “Honey” to her granddaughter.
