Biography
Dr. Nicholas A. Dodson has served at Truett McConnell University since 2015, where he is Lecturer in the School of Theology and Missions and Program Coordinator for the MA with Thesis. He teaches New Testament Greek grammar, syntax, and exegesis, along with Systematic Theology and Apologetics. He also serves as Program Director of Graduate Biblical and Theological Studies at Liberty University School of Divinity.
Dr. Dodson earned his Ph.D. in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. His dissertation argued that a chiasm in Matthew 16:13 to 18:20 is the fountainhead of Matthew’s understanding of the church. He has published in Southwestern Journal of Theology, Filologia Neotestamentaria, Estudios Bíblicos, and Journal of Ministry and Theology, much of it with his former doctoral mentor, Dr. A. Boyd Luter. He has presented at regional meetings of the Evangelical Theological Society and served as Managing Editor of Eleutheria.
His honors include Liberty University’s Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award and the seminary’s Biblical Languages Award in Greek. He reads German and French for research.
Ordained to the gospel ministry in 2014, Dr. Dodson served as Pastor of Young Adults and Missions at Second Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee. He loves helping students handle the biblical text carefully in its original languages and carry that work into faithful ministry in the local church. He lives in East Tennessee with his family and enjoys fishing the Clinch River.
