Biography

Dr. Javier Chavez was born in Peru and raised in several countries through his family’s missionary work. He made a personal commitment to Christ and was baptized at age 13. In 1995, he came to the United States to pursue higher education. After completing college and graduate studies, he married and returned to Peru, where he served as a missionary from 2001–2014. During that time, he planted a vibrant church in Lima, helped establish two feeding centers for impoverished children, and founded Amistad Cristiana International Inc., which now has a presence in multiple countries.

All four of his children, Joshua, Abigail, Vania, and Nathanael, were born on the mission field and reflect the multicultural experiences of many missionary kids. His son Joshua graduated from TMU in 2025 with a degree in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law, and his daughter Abigail is a current TMU junior studying Business and Marketing.

Since 2015, Dr. Chavez has served as the planter and lead pastor of Iglesia Amistad Cristiana, a growing multicultural church in Gainesville, Georgia. He greatly enjoys teaching and engaging with his students.
