About This Program

The Middle Grades Education program at Truett McConnell University prepares teacher candidates to effectively teach students in grades 4–8 with a strong emphasis on both content knowledge and developmentally responsive instruction. Candidates select a concentration in either English Language Arts/Social Studies or Math/Science, allowing them to develop depth in their content area while learning best practices for engaging young adolescents. The program combines rigorous coursework with extensive field experiences, providing meaningful opportunities to apply instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment practices in real classrooms.
