The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science at Truett McConnell University is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers in both field and laboratory forensic services. This comprehensive curriculum, aligned with NIST and OSAC standards, equips students for roles in law enforcement, criminalistics, and forensic psychology.
Why Study Forensic Science at TMU?
TMU offers a unique blend of academic excellence and a Christian mission, preparing students to serve in both professional and spiritual capacities. With small class sizes and personalized instruction, students benefit from direct mentorship from industry leaders like Bruce Willis, and they gain real-world experience through internships and capstone research projects.
Students will engage in courses covering various aspects of forensic science such as criminalistics, crime scene photography, and medico-legal death investigations. The program’s emphasis on practical experience, combined with a Christian worldview, prepares graduates to make meaningful contributions in both public and private sectors.

Program Features
-
The program blends biological sciences, chemistry, and forensic sciences, including specialized courses such as Crime Scene Photography, Fingerprint Science, Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, and Medico-Legal Death Investigation. The program is designed to provide students with the technical knowledge to evaluate and process forensic evidence.
-
A distinctive feature of our program is the three-semester research paradigm, which provides students with hands-on research experience and mentorship, giving graduating seniors a meaningful advantage when applying to graduate and professional schools. We breakdown the question, “What is Science?” by providing thorough coursework in Research Methods, Capstone Research, and Capstone Presentation. As part of the Capstone Presentation, students engage in a research seminar experience and showcase their findings through a poster presentation at our Annual Research Symposium. Our commitment to whole-person education through personalized instruction, practical laboratory and research opportunities provides students with a comprehensive educational toolbox that prepares them for success in advanced study, careers in science, and faithful service for their life’s calling.
-
Students will have the opportunity to complete internships and capstone projects that emphasize practical, hands-on experience in the field. As well as many labs mimicking the experiences and challenges these students will face in the workforce. Our forensic science program equips students to serve their communities while upholding the love of Christ and the call to justice (Philippians 2:3).
